Genital skin tag removal from £495, with a £50 doctor consultation that comes off the cost of treatment. One doctor, a chaperone every time, and a private entrance in Belgravia.
Genital skin tags are harmless, common and nothing to do with warts or any infection. Removal is a short procedure carried out by Dr Vadim Corjos at our Richmond and Belgravia clinics, under local anaesthetic given as a few tiny injections that numb the area completely.
The first thing most people want to know
A genital skin tag is a small flap of ordinary skin. It is benign. It is not contagious, it is not sexually transmitted, it does not turn into anything, and having one says nothing about you. Most people who come to us have spent a while quietly worried that it was something else, and the consultation is often as much about that as about the removal.
They appear where skin rubs against skin or clothing, which is why the groin, the scrotum, the labia and the inner thigh are common sites. Weight change, pregnancy, friction from exercise and simply getting older all make them more likely. Some people have one. Some people have a dozen.
Telling them apart from the things they are mistaken for
This is the part you cannot do from a search results page, and it is the main reason the consultation exists.
Skin tags hang on a narrow stalk, are the colour of your skin, are soft, and stay much the same size for years.
Genital warts are caused by sexually transmitted strains of HPV. They tend to be multiple, can have a rougher surface, and can spread. They need managing as an infection rather than removing as a lesion, so if that is what Dr Corjos finds, he will tell you plainly and explain where to go. We do not remove them and take your money.
Molluscum contagiosum are small firm domes with a dimple in the middle, caused by a different virus, and are also managed differently.
Pearly penile papules are a normal anatomical variant arranged in rows around the rim of the glans. They are not a disease and do not need treating, though a great many men arrive convinced they do.
Nothing is removed until it has been examined and identified.
Why a fair number of our patients are men
Men are less likely to have anything in this area looked at, more likely to have put it off for years, and more likely to have arrived at the clinic having already decided what it is. The pattern we see is someone who has known about it for a long time, has not wanted to ask a GP, and wants it dealt with by a surgeon, discreetly, without a conversation in a waiting room. That is what this appointment is.
What happens at the appointment
Assessment. Dr Corjos examines the area and confirms what he is looking at. A chaperone is present throughout the examination and the procedure, every time, without you needing to ask.
Local anaesthetic. Dr Corjos numbs the area with a few tiny injections. Those sting briefly, like a small scratch, and that is the only part most patients feel. After that the area is completely numb before anything else is done.
Removal. We use the Surtron 160, a radiofrequency electrosurgical unit that cauterises as it removes, so there is little or no bleeding and stitches are rarely needed. Some tags are better excised with a scalpel and cauterised, and Dr Corjos decides that on the day.
Afterwards. You are given aftercare instructions and can leave straight away. Most people return to normal activities the same day, with exercise and swimming left for a few days.
Discretion, practically rather than as a slogan
One doctor sees you at consultation, carries out the procedure and reviews you afterwards. Nobody else is involved. At Belgravia there is no shopfront on West Halkin Street and no clinic signage: you arrive through a private entrance on a quiet street and come up by lift. Appointments are spaced so you are not sitting alongside other patients. At Richmond you are seen in a private treatment room on Kew Road.
Who treats you
Every genital skin tag removal at Bodyvie is performed by Dr Vadim Corjos (GMC 7822977), a cosmetic surgeon with fifteen years of surgical practice across general, trauma and reconstructive surgery, and by nobody else.
What it costs
A doctor consultation is £50, paid when you book online and redeemable in full against the cost of treatment. Removal is from £495 for the first skin tag, with each additional tag treated in the same appointment at £100. The same prices apply at Richmond and at Belgravia.
Your appointment is booked as a full hour, so where Dr Corjos is satisfied it is appropriate, the tag is assessed and removed at that same visit and you only need to come in once.
