PDRN + Niacinamide

Regenerative mesotherapy

Treatment at a glance

Key details you may want to know before booking.

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. It is DNA that has been broken into short fragments and purified, and it is not the same material as the longer polynucleotide chains used in our polynucleotide treatment, even though the two are often sold as if they were interchangeable.

The shorter fragments are thought to act on the adenosine A2A receptor, which is part of how tissue signals that it is repairing itself. Niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, is included for skin tone and barrier function. The two are delivered together into the mid-dermis by mesotherapy, a series of small injections across the treatment area rather than a few placed deposits.

It suits skin that reads as dull, photodamaged or uneven in tone, and it is often chosen after a course of something else rather than instead of one. It is available at both our clinics, at the same price and to the same standard.

What is in the treatment

We use Meso OX PDRN + Niacinamide, a Skymedic product. It comes as two components, a PDRN solution and a hyaluronic acid solution, which are combined immediately before the treatment and given as mesotherapy into the mid-dermis.

It is a professional-use mesotherapy product rather than an implanted device, which is a real difference from a polynucleotide gel and one reason the two behave differently in the skin. Niacinamide sits alongside the PDRN in the formulation rather than being added separately on the day.

Ask any clinic what they are injecting and who makes it. If the answer is only a category name, that is information in itself.

What a course looks like

The manufacturer protocol is a session every two weeks for four to six sessions, followed by maintenance about once a month. That is a longer commitment than a polynucleotide course, and it is the main practical difference when you are choosing between them.

We would rather you knew that before you booked the first session than after it. At consultation we will tell you how many sessions we expect you to need, and if the honest answer is that a different treatment would serve you better, we will say so.

Results build gradually. Early freshness can show within days, but the change in tone and texture develops across the course as the skin responds.

How it differs from polynucleotides

They are related and they are not the same.

Polynucleotides are long chains of purified DNA, used here as Plinest Face at 20mg/ml and Plinest Eye at 7.5mg/ml. They are CE-marked Class III medical devices, placed as deposits in the skin, over three to four sessions two to three weeks apart.

PDRN is the same raw material broken into shorter fragments, given here with niacinamide as mesotherapy across the mid-dermis, over four to six sessions two weeks apart.

Both work with the skin’s own repair signalling rather than adding volume. Polynucleotides are the better-evidenced of the two and are where we would usually start, particularly around the eyes. PDRN with niacinamide is often the better fit where tone and photodamage are the complaint rather than laxity. At consultation we will tell you which, and sometimes the answer is neither.

Why it is £395

A session is £395, the same as a polynucleotide session, which is deliberate: we price by the appointment and the doctor time, not by which regenerative product you turn out to need.

What sits inside it:

  • The injection is carried out by a GMC-registered doctor, not delegated
  • Product bought through professional supply, prepared fresh for you on the day
  • A consultation first, and an honest answer about whether this is the right treatment
  • CQC-registered premises at both clinics

Because the protocol runs to four to six sessions, the course costs more than a polynucleotide course. We would rather set that out here than have it arrive as a surprise at the second appointment.

Who treats you

PDRN with niacinamide at Bodyvie is given by our own doctors, at both clinics, at the same price and to the same standard. You can look any of them up on the GMC register before you book.

The consultation comes first and costs £50, redeemable in full against treatment. It exists so that somebody medically qualified looks at your skin and tells you whether this is the right treatment, a different one, or none at all.

The same doctor who assesses you carries out the sessions and reviews you through the course.

Afterwards, and who it is not for

Mesotherapy leaves small raised bumps across the treated area. These usually settle within a few hours to a day. Pinpoint bruising is common and more likely if you have taken anti-inflammatories or alcohol beforehand. Most people go back to work the same day.

For 24 hours, avoid make-up over the area, heavy exercise, saunas and steam. No facials or other treatments over the area for two weeks.

It is not suitable in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, if there is active infection or inflammation in the area, or if you have a known allergy to fish, since PDRN is derived from fish. Tell us at consultation about any autoimmune condition, a history of keloid scarring, and any medicine that affects clotting.

Serious problems are uncommon, but no injection is free of risk, and we will go through them properly at consultation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is PDRN the same as polynucleotides?

Four to six, two weeks apart, then maintenance about once a month. That is the manufacturer protocol and it is what the result is built on. One session on its own will not do much, and we would rather say so before you book.

How many sessions will I need?

It is not suitable in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, if there is active infection or inflammation in the area, or if you have a known allergy to fish, since PDRN is fish-derived. Tell us at consultation about any autoimmune condition, a history of keloid scarring, or any medicine affecting clotting. Sometimes the right answer is that this is not the treatment for you.
