What polynucleotides actually are
Polynucleotides are chains of purified DNA fragments, prepared from trout and sterilised to medical-device standard. They are not a filler. Nothing is being added to change the shape of your face. The material is placed in the skin, where it holds water and acts as a signal to the fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen and elastin. What you are buying is a change in skin quality rather than volume: firmer, better hydrated skin that reflects light more evenly. It develops over weeks, not on the day, and it is the reason this treatment suits people who do not want to look filled. It is available at both our clinics, in Richmond and in Belgravia, at the same price and to the same standard.

What we use, and at what strength
We use two products from the Plinest range, and the difference between them is concentration, not marketing.
Plinest Face is polynucleotide at 20mg per ml in a 2ml syringe. It is the stronger of the two and it is what we use across the face, the neck and the decolletage, where the skin is thicker and will take it.
Plinest Eye is the same material at 7.5mg per ml. The skin around the eye is a fraction of the thickness of cheek skin, and a lower concentration is the appropriate one there. It is not a weaker version sold at the same price by accident: it is the formulation made for that area.
Both are CE-marked Class III medical devices. Neither is a prescription-only medicine, which is why we are able to name them here and tell you exactly what is in the syringe. Ask any clinic what they are using and at what concentration. If the answer is vague, that is information in itself.
What a course actually is
One session is not the treatment. The protocol for both products is a session every two to three weeks, for three to four sessions, and the result is built across that course rather than delivered by any single appointment.
We say this before you book because the single-session price is the number most clinics advertise, and it is the number that makes a course look like an unpleasant surprise later. A realistic first course is three sessions, and we will tell you at consultation whether you need three or four.
After that, most people come back once or twice a year to hold it. Polynucleotides are gradual by design: you are asking your own fibroblasts to do the work, and they take weeks to do it. If you want a change by Friday, this is not the treatment, and we will say so.
Where it sits against Profhilo, filler and Juläine
These treatments get lumped together as “skin boosters” and they are not the same thing.
Dermal filler adds volume. It sits in a space and changes a contour. Polynucleotides do not do that and will not replace it if volume is what you have lost.
Profhilo is hyaluronic acid. It draws water into the skin and stimulates some collagen, and it works quickly. Polynucleotides work more slowly and act more on the repair side.
Juläine and Sculptra are poly-L-lactic acid. They are collagen biostimulators, aimed at structure and volume over months.
The honest summary: polynucleotides are for skin quality, Profhilo for hydration, biostimulators for structure, filler for shape. Plenty of people are better served by one of the others, and at consultation we will tell you which.
PDRN with niacinamide is the closest relative and the one most often confused with this treatment. It uses shorter DNA fragments, given as mesotherapy over four to six sessions rather than three to four. That page explains the difference properly.
Why ours is £395
A session here is £395, for Plinest Face or Plinest Eye. Published prices in the area run from about £190 to £500, and courses from £965 to £1,650. That is roughly an eight-fold spread for what patients are told is the same treatment.
What sits inside ours:
- The injection is carried out by a GMC-registered doctor, not delegated
- A full-strength 2ml syringe of the named product, used once, for you
- Product bought through the regulated UK pharmacy supply chain, stored to the manufacturer cold chain
- A consultation first, and an honest answer about whether this is the right treatment
- CQC-registered premises at both clinics
We are not the cheapest and we do not try to be. Where published prices differ this much, the things that usually differ are the concentration of the product, how much of it you get, and who is holding the syringe. Those are fair questions to ask anywhere, including here.
Who treats you
Polynucleotides at Bodyvie are given by our own doctors, at both clinics, at the same price and to the same standard. You can look any of them up on the GMC register before you book.
The consultation comes first and costs £50, redeemable in full against treatment. It exists so that somebody medically qualified looks at your skin and tells you whether this is the right treatment, a different one, or none at all. A consultation may or may not lead to treatment, and we would rather turn work away than sell you a course that will not do what you want.
The same doctor who assesses you carries out the sessions and reviews you through the course, so nobody is picking up your face halfway through without knowing what was done at the start.
Afterwards, and who it is not for
Expect small raised bumps where the product has gone in. These settle within a few hours to a day. Bruising is possible, particularly under the eyes, and is more likely if you have taken anti-inflammatories or alcohol beforehand. Most people go back to work the same day.
For 24 hours, avoid make-up over the area, heavy exercise, saunas and steam. No facials or other treatments over the area for two weeks.
It is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the area, or if you have a known allergy to fish. Tell us at consultation about any autoimmune condition, any history of keloid scarring, and any medicine that affects clotting.
Serious problems are uncommon, but no injection is free of risk. We will go through the risks properly at consultation rather than leave you to find them here.

A course is three to four sessions, two to three weeks apart. There is no course discount: you pay per session, and we will tell you at consultation how many you are likely to need.

Three to four, two to three weeks apart. That is the manufacturer protocol for both products and it is what the result is built on. One session on its own will not do much, and we would rather tell you that before you book than after. Most people then return once or twice a year to maintain it.
Concentration, and the area each is made for. Plinest Face is 20mg of polynucleotide per ml and is used on the face, neck and decolletage. Plinest Eye is 7.5mg per ml, made for the thinner skin around the eye. Both are 2ml, both are £395 a session, and which one you need depends on where you are being treated rather than on how much you want to spend.
It is not suitable in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, if there is active infection or inflammation in the area, or if you have a known allergy to fish, since the polynucleotides are derived from trout. Tell us at consultation about any autoimmune condition, a history of keloid scarring, or any medicine affecting clotting. The consultation exists to catch these, and sometimes the answer is that this is not the right treatment for you.
