Do you need a GP referral?

For most scans, The Ultrasound Practice does not require a GP referral, meaning you can arrange a scan directly without first seeing your GP.

However, as part of their patient safety processes, they do require either the contact details of your NHS GP practice or the details of the healthcare professional who recommended the scan. This ensures that, should any significant or unexpected findings be identified, there is an appropriate clinician they can liaise with regarding your results and any necessary follow-up care.

If you would prefer to discuss your symptoms with a doctor before deciding whether a scan is the right next step, Bodyvie also offers a private GP consultation at the same address.

Ultrasound for retained dermal filler

The Ultrasound Practice will also offer high-frequency scanning to assess dermal filler that remains in the tissues – where it sits, how deep it is, and marking it on the skin before a dissolving procedure. Read more about ultrasound for retained dermal filler.

Already a Bodyvie patient?

If you are already being looked after at Richmond, having imaging available in the same building may save you a separate trip. It may be relevant if you are seen for:

If your Bodyvie clinician feels a scan would be helpful, they can tell you so. The Ultrasound Practice is a separate organisation and holds its own patient records, so you would register with them as a new patient and make a new booking yourself. Your results come to you from them rather than from Bodyvie. Bodyvie has a commercial arrangement with The Ultrasound Practice, and you are free to have a scan wherever you choose.
