- Erase dark patches of skin.
Men’s pigmentation can develop over time due to exposure to UV rays from enjoying the sun or working outdoors. Bodyvie offers a variety of treatments to help reduce unwanted pigmentation using Alexandrite, Nd:Yag, IPL, Fractional or Ruby laser. Our treatments can reverse the signs of sun damage, promote collagen and erase dark patches of skin.
Pigmentation appears as dark patches of skin like sun spots (lentigo), freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
The cause of discolouration in men’s skin is most often caused by sun damage which affects the cells that control pigment, known as melanocytes.
Before the laser pigmentation removal treatment can begin, our therapist will thoroughly clean the portion of the skin in question. As we offer a variety of treatments to help reduce unwanted skin pigmentation, our qualified medical professionals will find the best possible option for your specific needs.
Our laser treatments emit extremely controlled length and depth pulses to selectively interact with unwanted melanin. These multiple wavelengths gently exfoliate and remove the pigmented skin, essentially raising the layers of discolouration to the surface of the skin to be eradicated.
After this, your therapist will apply SPF 50 and advise you to avoid sun exposure to the treated area for 2 weeks to avoid the risk of hyperpigmentation. The targeted area may appear red but this will quickly return to normal with major improvements seen within weeks.
The laser technology also penetrates the skin to activate its metabolism of skin cells to spark collagen production. Treatment varies for each individual depending on how deep or stubborn their pigmentation is, resulting in the choice of laser and the number of treatments advised to accomplish results. In general, a skin pigmentation course requires three treatments; these are maintenance sessions to check and ensure long-term results.
However, it is important to remember that to maintain results, you should apply SPF 50 daily, to prevent further exposure to UV rays. Otherwise, this could lead to further issues including hyperpigmentation.
