Cervical Smear
Cervical Smear & HPV Screening
- Detect abnormal cervical cells
- Easy to book, anytime of the year
- Results are quick & thorough
Regular cervical smears offer an insight into your health to monitor or detect any abnormal cells in the cervix.
Cervical smear tests help to identify the cells which could lead to cervical cancer. By having regular smear tests, you are able to closely keep an eye on any changes or abnormalities to proactively treat these cells before they become dangerous.
Cervical smear tests check for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and changes in the cells covering the neck of your womb. Smear tests help to identify these cells which could lead to cervical cancer. By having regular smear tests, you are able to closely keep an eye on any changes or abnormalities to proactively treat these cells before they become dangerous.
Cervical screenings are highly effective at preventing cervical cancer; in fact, 4,500 lives are saved every year in England alone because of this preventative check.
Currently, the NHS offers smear tests only every 3-5 years depending on your age. At Bodyvie, you are welcome to book an appointment for a cervical smear whenever you would like to ensure a sense of security.
Bodyvie’s Private GP, Dr Weber, will conduct the smear test and the sample from your cervical smear will be sent to The Doctor’s Laboratory for a thorough analysis to detect any abnormal cells or for the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which can also lead to cervical cancer.
The turnaround for results is quick, they are available after 3-5 business days.
After your results have been sent to Bodyvie, your doctor will invite you for a follow-up appointment to discuss your results.
If any abnormal cells were detected, your doctor will inform you of the best treatment plan to ensure your safety in the prevention of cervical cancer.
Cervical Smear Tests are for women who don’t have symptoms. If you are experiencing symptoms such as bleeding between periods, vaginal discharge, or pain, see your GP as soon as possible rather than waiting for your next Cervical Smear Test.
Depending on your symptoms, treatment will involve a prescription of medication. Your treatment plan will be entirely unique to your needs and one glove does not fit all.
Expect clear, bespoke, guided and monitored treatment and ongoing support.
You will have an in-depth consultation with your doctor before they conduct a cervical smear test. If this is your first cervical smear, your doctor will discuss how the smear feels to prepare you in advance.
Your doctor will discuss the possibilities of results to best inform you of possible solutions if any abnormal cells are detected.
Results will vary depending on the outcome of your cytology report from The Doctor’s Laboratory.
