Milia and skin tags are harmless growths that may cause cosmetic annoyance and some physical irritation.
Skin tags are often caused by friction, either skin rubbing against skin or against clothing, and for that reason, they are usually found on the neck and eyelids, around the groin,or under the breasts or armpits. They range in size from barely a millimetre up to several centimetres, and may be attached by a thin stalk or have grown so that the whole body is connected to the skin. Although they pose no risk to health and are not contagious, they can be unsightly or irritating if caught on clothing.
Milia are small growths that look like hard white/yellow cysts. Milia is caused by the buildup of dead skin skills called keratin which gets blocked under the skin. Milia often appears around the eyes, forehead, and cheeks.
To remove skin tags and milia, cautery is used. This is an extremely precise technique that vaporises the lesion away while cauterising the incision. At Bodyvie, our cauterising device is called PlexR and this device also stimulates collagen production for skin to restore to a healthy and supple appearance.
The removal of any type of blemish is judged on an individual basis and one of our skin specialists will perform a careful analysis to advise you on the best method of treatment for your particular needs. Each treatment may vary from one person to another. To book an appointment, get in touch with our friendly team.
