Thread veins, also known as dermal flares, can also be triggered by hormonal changes which can occur during pregnancy and menopause. Some veins are caused by genetics.
Spider veins on the legs can occur when the valves inside the veins stop working. Veins have the function of carrying blood to the heart. In order to stop the blood from going backwards, the veins contain a valve which closes after the blood goes through. If this valve is damaged or weakened, the blood may have difficulty flowing correctly. As a result, blood pools inside the vein which then results in visually apparent spider veins.
Our doctors and therapists remove unwanted facial and leg veins using laser treatments or sclerotherapy, depending on the undesired veins.
For finer veins, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment target visible blood vessels, redness and rosacea. Laser energy penetrates the skin to stimulate the production of collagen to naturally repair and rejuvenate the skin.
Depending on the decided treatment, you will either have sclerotherapy or laser vein removal. Sclerotherapy will be performed by your doctor, injecting the sclerosing solution into the unwanted veins. You will then be required to wear compression stockings during the healing time. If you have been advised laser treatment, your therapist will conduct the treatment, the veins may get darker post-treatment before they fade.
You may need 2-3 treatments.
