- Stimulates collagen
Scars are caused by an injury, surgery, acne or stretch marks. Our non-invasive scar removal treatments treat different scars anywhere on your body.
Depending on the nature of your scar, our doctors and therapists will advise the most suitable treatment to effectively remove your unique scar. Scar removal treatments include laser treatment, micro-needling or kenalog injections.
Laser therapy breaks down scar tissue by clearing away poor quality skin cells. This resurfacing laser technique also promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells to restore skin to a smooth and healthy texture.
Micro-needling for scar removal works by delivering tiny pin-pricks to the surface of the skin to stimulate the production of collagen and encourage the power of the body’s own natural healing system to repair the damaged scar tissue.
For more large and raised scars, sometimes called keloid scars, our doctors can administer a kenalog steroid injection to reduce its appearance.
The treatment area will first be cleansed. If Dermapen micro-needling was advised, you will have a topical anaesthetic applied to the treatment area, which will set for 60 minutes, to ensure a comfortable treatment. Your therapist will then conduct treatment, microneedling or laser. The skin will then be protected with the application of SPF50. You will expect a downtime of 5-10 days and another treatment will be advised after 4 weeks for the best results.
4-6 treatments are recommended for scar removal. At your consultation, your doctor or aesthetician will determine the number of treatments advised after assessing your scar.
You will notice your scar change after your first treatment. Any raised scars will be less defined, pitted scars will also be less apparent as skin is resurfaced to a more even texture.
