After a busy December filming, celebrating Christmas and New Year and travelling to New York, Anthea Turner admits the need for a long overdue facial and self-care day to restore her skin and well-being, especially with the cry for help of a stubborn spot and reveals her skincare secrets! Travelling always seems to take a toll on our skin, especially on long-haul flights, and recycled air does not do us any favours!

So, you are probably wondering what treatment Anthea had with us at Bodyvie this month to feel like herself again, we are going to tell you all about Anthea’s treatment:

Radiofrequency Facial

The radiofrequency facial is a non-invasive treatment which tightens the skin, targeting sagging skin and skin laxity, and stimulates collagen and elastin production. Radiofrequency heats skin tissue to 42 degrees Celsius and massages the face with this warmth to lift the skin for a more firm and youthful appearance. The treatment is completed with a healing hydrating mask to calm the skin. It’s an excellent lunchtime treatment with no downtime.

Microdermabrasion

For ultimate exfoliation, the Radiofrequency Facial includes medical microdermabrasion with the diamond-tipped Dermagenesis.

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive treatment which uses an exfoliating medical aluminium oxide crystal tip with vacuum properties to remove the superficial layers of dead skin cells to expose healthy new skin. When you remove the stratum corneum’s outer layer of skin, your body interprets this as an injury and quickly replaces the removed skin cells with fresh and healthy skin cells.

Microdermabrasion is clinically proven to gently remedy dry or oily skin, acne-prone skin, and sun damage and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You will notice your skin feeling incredibly smooth after treatment!

Dermalux LED Light Therapy

Anthea mentioned her spot was her skin’s cry for help leading her to book an appointment with us at Bodyvie. After a hectic work schedule, events and travel, it is not uncommon to bear witness to an unwelcome blaring red spot on your face. Dermalux LED light therapy is a relaxing and passive light treatment used for skin healing, collagen and elastin production. It is even a helpful treatment for those who experience the symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Dermalux is programmed mainly for your skin condition, and the LED lights gently penetrate various skin depths to stimulate the dermis.

Blue light therapy targets acne-causing bacteria, and red light is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and reduces the appearance of redness from acne inflammation.

Anthea’s other self-care tips:

TCP for Acne:

TCP is incredible, tried and tested antiseptic, perfect for cuts, scrapes, and some acne. Antiseptic targets bacteria and microorganisms that cause acne to help treat your unwanted spot. If you have run out of your regular acne treatment, follow Anthea’s advice, dip a Q-tip in TCP, and dab it on your spot. We also recommend Dr Weber’s BHA Toner with 2% Salicylic Acid to dry out spots and exfoliate the dead skin cells trapping the dirt underneath.

Nice nails!

Establishing time for yourself is a significant investment for your well-being. Like Anthea, simply doing something for yourself, like getting your nails painted by someone else, is therapeutic.

By intentionally setting aside time, something is comforting in knowing you are taking care of yourself. You can take a pottery class, try yoga, walk, visit a gallery and take yourself to lunch. Whether it’s once a week or once a month, treating yourself is worth it; your mind and body will thank you.

There you have it! We love that Anthea shares her secrets for skincare and well-being with us because sometimes it is easy to deny ourselves the self-care we want and need. Anthea’s treatments are catered to her skin’s needs, and at Bodyvie, we offer the same bespoke service for all of our patients.

You can have a free consultation to learn about what’s going on with your skin, and we will create a whole treatment plan for you, even for those skin emergencies!
