Confirmed after consultation
Exosome hair restoration is a regenerative scalp treatment used to support selected hair thinning concerns. It is often considered for patients who want a non-surgical approach to improving the scalp environment and supporting healthier-looking hair over time.
At Bodyvie, treatment begins with a consultation. We assess your scalp, pattern of hair loss, medical history and expectations before deciding whether exosome-based treatment is suitable for you.
A cell-signalling approach to scalp care
Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles, involved in intercellular communication. They have signalling properties that may help support repair activity and tissue response, so are used in aesthetic and regenerative medicine.
They have been discussed in the dermatology literature for their potential role in hair regeneration including effects on dermal papilla cells and the hair growth cycle, but further research is still needed.
In hair restoration, the goal is not to create instant change but to support the scalp environment. Results, if obtained, develop gradually.
Looking beyond the visible shedding
Hair thinning can be caused by many factors such as genetics, hormones, stress, nutrition, medication or medical conditions. Stress, nutritional deficiencies, and medication are also mentioned in Bodyvie’s current hair loss information as factors in hair loss.
This is why it’s why treatment is not recommended until the likely cause is understood. Sometimes a treatment plan cannot be agreed until the patient has undergone blood tests or a medical review.
When exosome support may be considered
Exosome hair restoration may be considered for patients with early or moderate concerns where the scalp and follicles may still respond. This may include:
- Gradual thinning
- Reduced hair density
- Increased shedding
- Weaker-looking hair quality
- Early pattern hair loss
- Scalp support after assessment
If follicles are no longer active, regenerative scalp treatment may have limited benefit. Your practitioner will explain this during consultation.
Scalp mapping and clinical review
Your appointment includes a thorough examination of the scalp and hair pattern. We will ask you about when the concern began, whether it was a sudden change, or a gradual one, and if there are other symptoms associated with it.
We will also review your medical history, medication, previous treatments and lifestyle factors. This will allow Bodyvie to see if exosome hair restoration is a good fit or if other treatments should be tried first.
How treatment is delivered
Cleaning and preparing the scalp before treatment. Depending on the treatment plan, exosomes can be delivered into the scalp using fine injections or a controlled delivery method.
The aim is to get the treatment into specific areas that need support. The appointment is usually doable but the scalp can feel sensitive during and after the appointment.
The first 48 hours
You may experience mild redness, tenderness, swelling or small marks on the scalp after treatment. These effects usually resolve rapidly.
You may be advised to avoid hair washing, strenuous exercise, heat, alcohol or harsh hair products for a short time. You will be given clear aftercare instructions before you leave Bodyvie.
Changes over the hair cycle
Hair restoration is a process that takes time, as hair grows in cycles. Any improvement is usually incremental and takes months to evaluate.
Some patients will first notice less shedding, then changes in hair quality or thickness. A series of sessions may be recommended depending on your scalp condition and desired results.
Safety and treatment limits
Not everyone is a good candidate for exosome therapies. Possible side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, infection, irritation, temporary shedding or an uneven response .
With exosome treatments there are also important regulatory and product-quality considerations, so careful assessment and clinical guidance are essential.
