Dark under-eye circles develop because as we age, our cheekbones begin to resorb in our mid-20’s. You could compare this to having less scaffolding to support the tissues holding the fat pads around our eyes and cheeks. Our fat pads are also changing in size and are moving down the face with age. The thin skin of the eye area also becomes more transparent with age, especially without the camouflage of fat to cover the darker muscle in the tear trough area, enhancing the dark circles and exposing pigment. Our soft dermal fillers essentially have a restorative effect to counteract the decrease in the size of our fat pads. This will not change the action of the muscle.
To fill the hollows between the eye and the cheek, your doctor will inject a dermal filler, most commonly Teosyal Redensity II, to fill the shadowed area. The dermal fillers will smooth the area between the eye and cheekbone for a refreshed and smoothed appearance. This treatment is perfect in combination with cheek filler to rebuild the structure in the face. Your treatment will begin with an in-depth consultation to help us understand your requirements. The treatment usually takes around half an hour, and you should be able to return to your everyday activities soon afterwards. Due to the nature of injectables piercing the skin, swelling and or bruising may occur but will subside within a few days.
You will only need one treatment to achieve optimal results.
You will notice results immediately after your treatment. You may experience some swelling due to the nature of injectables but this should subside within 3 days.
