Men come to us for this treatment for a fairly consistent reason: a permanently tired or stern expression that does not match how they feel, usually from the frown lines between the brows and the horizontal lines across the forehead.
The treatment uses a purified protein, given in small measured amounts, which softens the signal between nerve and muscle so the skin above can settle. It takes about twenty minutes and needs no anaesthetic. We use TSK Invisible needles, which are among the finest made, to keep it as comfortable as possible. It is available at both our clinics, in Richmond and in Belgravia, at the same price and to the same standard.
Treating men is not the same as treating women
Men generally have greater muscle mass in the forehead and brow, and a heavier, flatter brow position. Two things follow from that.
The first is dose. Men usually need more product than women to achieve the same softening, which is a clinical fact rather than a sales one. Under-dosing a man’s forehead is the most common reason for a result that does not last, or does not show at all.
The second is brow position. A male brow sits lower and straighter, and treating the forehead without accounting for that can drop it further or introduce an arch that reads as feminine. Getting this right is a matter of where the product goes, not how much of it there is.
Most men want less, not more
Almost every man who sits down in our clinic says some version of the same thing: he does not want anyone to know. That is an entirely achievable brief, and it is the one we work to by default.
The aim is that you still frown, still raise your eyebrows, and still look like yourself, with the lines at rest softened rather than erased.
If you have had a frozen or over-treated result elsewhere, tell us. It changes how we dose you.
Why it is a consultation first
The medicine is prescription-only, which means a prescriber has to assess you in person before it can be prescribed for you. It cannot be decided from a photograph, a price list or a phone call.
For men that assessment does more work than it does for women. The muscles of the male forehead and brow are larger and stronger, and men often need noticeably more product than a woman of the same age to get any effect at all. Under-dose a man and nothing happens — you have paid, and you wait three months to find that out.
The opposite mistake is the visible one. A male brow is flatter and sits lower than a female brow, and treating the forehead too heavily lifts and arches it. That is what people mean when they say a man looks surprised, or just not quite himself, and it is the most common reason men tell us they would not do it again. Avoiding it is a matter of exactly where the product goes and how much, which is decided looking at your face rather than before you arrive.
Every treatment includes a two-week review
Two weeks is when the effect has settled and can properly be judged, so a review at that point is included with every treatment, with the same doctor who treated you.
For men in particular this is the appointment that matters. It lets us start conservatively and add at two weeks if the dose was light, rather than commit to a heavy dose on day one and ask you to live with it for three months.
It is included in the price, not charged as an extra.
Where our product comes from
We buy only through recognised UK pharmacy wholesalers — Healthxchange, Wigmore Medical and Medical World. Nothing is bought online, from an unverified supplier, or from outside the regulated UK supply chain.
There is a second check built into that which most people do not know about. A licensed wholesaler cannot simply sell to anyone who asks. Before it will dispense, it has to satisfy itself that the clinic is properly registered and that the prescriber’s indemnity, registration and training records are current. The supply chain polices itself, and a provider who cannot buy through it is telling you something without meaning to.
It is worth saying plainly on this page, because men are more often offered this treatment somewhere it does not belong — a gym, a barber’s, a hotel room, someone who will come to the house. The price is usually the attraction. What you cannot see in any of those settings is where the vial came from, whether it holds what the label says, or who would answer the phone at nine on a Sunday evening if something were wrong.
What the price includes
We are not the cheapest clinic in Richmond, and we publish our prices so you can see that for yourself.
What the difference pays for is specific. The same GMC-registered doctor assesses you, prescribes and treats you — not a consultation with one person and injections from another. Licensed product through the regulated supply chain. A two-week review included rather than sold as an extra. And a dose worked out for your face on the day, rather than a number decided before you walked in.
Men tend to ask what it costs before they ask anything else, which is fair enough. The more useful question is what happens if it is not right. Here the answer is that you come back at two weeks, see the same doctor, and it is adjusted. That is the part that is difficult to price and easy to leave out.
Afterwards
Most men go straight back to work. For the first four hours, stay upright and avoid rubbing the treated area.
Leave the gym, running, saunas and steam rooms for twenty-four hours – worth planning around if you train in the mornings. Avoid facials or other facial treatments for two weeks.
You may notice small raised bumps at the injection points, a little like bee stings, sometimes with some redness. These usually settle within an hour, and occasionally there is minor bruising, which is easily covered. The effect develops over the following days and is usually settled by your two-week review.
One thing worth knowing about, and it is rare. The MHRA warnings added in July 2026 exist because, very occasionally, the effect spreads beyond the area treated. If at any point in the four weeks after treatment you develop difficulty swallowing, slurred speech or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention straight away and say that you have had a botulinum toxin injection. For anything less urgent — a brow sitting lower than you would like, or an unevenness — telephone the clinic rather than waiting for your review.
Risks and who it is not for
Side effects are usually mild and short-lived: tenderness or bruising where the needle went in, a headache for a day or two, and less commonly a temporary heaviness or unevenness of the brow if the effect spreads slightly beyond the muscle intended. It resolves as the treatment wears off.
Two things are more relevant to men than to women. Bruising is a little more likely, because male skin is thicker and more vascular — if there is something in the diary, leave a week. And a heavy hand on the forehead shows more on a male brow than a female one, which is why we treat conservatively first and add at the review rather than the other way round.
Serious complications are rare but not impossible, and we will go through them with you properly before you consent. This treatment is not suitable if you have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis, a known allergy to any component of the product, or active infection in the area to be treated. We will also decline to treat where the result would not be one we would be happy to have put our name to.
Also treated with botulinum toxin
- Excessive sweating – underarms, palms or scalp, where antiperspirants have not worked. Results usually last six to nine months.
- Masseter and jaw slimming – reduces the bulk of the chewing muscle, narrowing a wide lower face. Often helps men who clench or grind. Shows at six to eight weeks.
- Jaw and neck – softens vertical neck bands and the downward pull on the jawline. Not a facelift, and it will not tighten loose skin.
- Trapezius – relaxes the upper shoulder muscle, lengthening the look of the neck and easing tension held there. Popular with men who lift.
- Gummy smile – reduces how far the upper lip lifts, so less gum shows when you smile.
Each is assessed at consultation and priced separately below.
TREATMENT PRICES
Anti-wrinkle injections are priced by zone. A zone is one treatable muscle group: the frown lines between the eyebrows, the forehead lines, or the crow’s feet at both eyes. Most men have one, two or three zones treated, and the frown lines alone are often enough. Your doctor will tell you at consultation how many zones your concern actually needs – we will not treat more to make up a package. Prices include your assessment, the treatment, written aftercare and your two-week review.

what our clients say
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Not if that is the brief, and for most men it is. We dose so that the lines at rest are softened while your expression still works – you will still frown and still raise your eyebrows. What people tend to notice is that you look less tired, without being able to say why.
There are no visible marks afterwards beyond the occasional small bruise.
Usually, yes. Men generally have greater muscle mass in the forehead and brow, so the same softening takes more product. Under-dosing is the most common reason a man’s treatment does not last or does not show.
That is judged for your face rather than taken from a chart, and it is why the two-week review is included – we can add if the first dose was light.
The effect develops over the following days and is usually settled at around two weeks. Most men find it lasts three to four months, sometimes less at first if the dose was conservative.
Leave the gym, running, saunas and steam rooms for twenty-four hours. After that, train as normal.
