Confirmed after consultation
The Nefertiti Lift is a non-surgical injectable treatment that improves the appearance of the lower face, jawline and upper neck. This is often considered by patients who have noted softening in the area around the jawline or downward pull in the neck area.
Treatment at Bodyvie starts with a consultation. We evaluate your lower face, neck muscles, skin quality and expectations before deciding if the Nefertiti Lift is appropriate for you.
When the neck affects the jawline
The lower face is closely applied to the neck. In some people, a neck muscle called the platysma pulls down on the jaw line, creating a softer or less defined lower face.
This can cause a little jowling, neck bands or a heavier look under the chin. The Nefertiti Lift aims to counteract this downward pull in specific areas to make the jawline appear more supported.
This is not a surgical lift, and will not remove excess skin. It works best for mild to moderate issues where muscle activity is contributing to the look.
The role of targeted injections
The treatment involves injecting small amounts of anti-wrinkle injection into specific points along the lower face and neck. These injections relax certain muscle activity, particularly the pull of the neck muscle on the jawline.
By reducing this pull, the upper facial muscles can have a more balanced impact, creating the appearance of a slightly lifted and more defined lower face.
The consequence is subtle and slow in developing. The goal is to enhance the natural jaw line and not to create a tight or unnatural appearance.
Signs this option may be suitable
The Nefertiti Lift may be considered if you are concerned about:
- Mild softening along the jawline
- Early jowling
- Visible neck bands
- Downward pull around the lower face
- Reduced definition between the face and neck
- A tired or heavier lower-face appearance
Suitability depends on muscle activity, skin laxity and facial structure. If the concern is mainly loose skin or significant volume loss, another treatment may be recommended.
Mapping the lower face
Before treatment, your practitioner will evaluate the movement of your lower-face and neck muscles. You may be asked to tighten your neck or make certain expressions so that the treatment points can be accurately planned.
We will also review your medical history, prior injectable treatments and any conditions that may affect suitability. Before going ahead with treatment Bodyvie will explain exactly what the Nefertiti Lift can and cannot do.
What happens during treatment
The skin is cleaned before the injections are made. The process is a series of small injections at selected points along the jaw line and neck. Most patients feel the appointment is quick and manageable.
An anaesthetic is usually not required, but the injections can feel like small pinches. You can usually go home from the clinic soon after.
Care after your injections
Following treatment there may be some slight redness, small bumps, tenderness or bruising at the injection sites. These effects, however, are fast to relax.
You may be told not to rub the area, lie flat, do vigorous exercise, drink alcohol, have heat treatments or facial massage for a short period of time. When you leave Bodyvie your practitioner will give you clear instructions.
How the lift becomes visible
The result is not immediate. The treated muscles relax gradually over a period of several days, with the main effect generally visible after 1-2 weeks.
The jawline may appear more defined and the lower face may seem a little more lifted. Results vary and can last for several months, depending on your muscle activity and response to treatment.
Clinical considerations
As with all injectable treatments, there are potential risks. These may include bruising, swelling, tenderness, asymmetry, headache, temporary muscle weakness or an unsatisfactory result.
Accurate assessment and careful placement are important as the neck is a sensitive functional area. All risks and alternatives will be discussed in consultation with you.
