Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treats vascular, pigmentation and acne concerns. IPL treats blood vessels visible on the skin, facial flushes, vascular lesions and rosacea. This treatment has also been proven to be successful when used against acne, post-acne hyperpigmentation, sun spots and photo-ageing.
IPL Photofacial is carried out at our Richmond clinic only, at 133-135 Kew Road, TW9 2PN. It is not available at our Belgravia clinic.
We deliver this treatment with the Lynton Lumina, the medical IPL and laser platform at our Richmond clinic.
To treat veins and unwanted pigmentation, IPL wavelengths target melanin found in pigment and oxyhaemoglobin found in blood vessels. By destroying the target areas with a laser, IPL treats these areas successfully without affecting or damaging surrounding tissue. These targeted cells are destroyed by the absorption of light and the transfer of energy.
IPL is different from a laser because it uses multiple wavelengths rather than just one. It achieves rapid photo-rejuvenation by using these wavelengths to penetrate the skin at different levels to treat the targeted areas. This stimulates the production of collagen, a naturally-occurring protein that helps heal and revitalise the skin.
The IPL device can be customised to suit your skin type and achieve maximum results as quickly as possible, but it is best suited to those with fair to light brown skin (skin types I-III).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A soothing gel is applied to the skin to help the laser hand-piece glide across the skin. Eye-protection is applied and a flash of light is seen as the laser hand-piece passes over the skin.
Treatment requirements vary depending on the severity of what is being treated, skin health, skin type etc. Generally speaking, a course of 3 treatments is required with maintenance sessions to follow, ensuring long term results.
Following treatment the targeted area might appear a little red. This will quickly return to normal and improvements seen in the coming weeks.
